The Coulee Region Children’s Internet Protection Task Force was formed in 2006 to help combat the growing epidemic of on-line predators victimizing children in our communities.  Our Task Force is comprised of all eight Law Enforcement Agencies within LaCrosse County who have united together to fight this plague.

Agencies include Bangor Police Department, Campbell Police Department, Holmen Police Department, Onalaska Police Department, LaCrosse County Sheriff’s Department, LaCrosse Police Department, Shelby Police Department, and West Salem Police Department.  We also have representatives from the Department of Corrections (Probation & Parole), LaCrosse County District Attorney’s Office, LaCrosse County Family & Children Services, Stepping Stones Child Advocacy Center, and the WI Sex Offender Registry Program.

Our Task Force is a very unique group as we are a registered 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization.  Due to the tough economic times and the many budget cuts communities are faced to make, it was determined this would be the best way to maintain the survival of our group.  Our funding for training and equipment comes from State and Federal Grants as well as many generous businesses, organizations, and individuals located in and around our community.  Individual agencies are only responsible for the wages for their assigned Officers which in turn reduces the strain on their budgets.

In addition to proactive and reactive investigation of criminal activity, our groups also presents Internet Safety to area Schools and Organizations at no charge.  To date, the group has presented to over 6000 adults and children in the Coulee Region.  We would not have accomplished this had it not been for our co-founder, the late Investigator David Winjum of the Onalaska Police Department.  Please view his memorial video linked below.
